Moving production from Lillesand
2009-10-15
Because of the finance crisis and the effect this have caused to the production volumes in our factories, the board in Stafa Industrier AS, decided this summer to move all production from Lillesand to our existing factories in Lithuania.
This move of production will give better utilization of the investments and capacity which already exists in Lithuania. Today Stansfabrikken have 2 factories in Lithuania:
• Stansefabrikken Automotive UAB (SFA), which is streamlined for high volume production. SFA had start up in 2007 and have new and the most modern machinery.
• Stansefabrikken UAB (SFU) is a sub-supplier of sheet-metal products and is operating according to high Scandinavian standards. We established SFU in 2003.
Both factories are certified according to ISO 9001 standard and have a number of international customers. Many of our present customers at Stansefabrikken Lillesand AS are already customers at one of our factories in Lithuania.
Today we have about 170 employees in Lithuania. The factories are located side by side in newly renovated premises in an industrial park in the town of Ukmergė, about 70 km. from Vilnius.
The factories are with few exceptions equipped with similar facilities as our factory in Lillesand. The equipment lacking in Lithuania will be transferred from Lillesand.
Based upon our experiences, and feedback from customers, we are keeping the same high level of service and quality from our two factories in Lithuania as we are in Lillesand
The move are now started and is planned to finish during spring 2010. In total this is a profitable and needed operation for Stansefabrikken, even if it’s a bit sad moving all the production away from Lillesand, where it all started 60 years ago.
Even if the production now are moving from Lillesand, the group head office will remain.
